Start Opti Sailing (SOS) Registration

This is a great place to introduce young kids to the water. Sessions are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm. Initial sessions are held in the pool so that everyone becomes used to the boats. From there we progress to sailing in the lagoons or the lake depending on the conditions.

We strive for a one to one ratio of support boats to Opti's. This is done to facilitate instruction and ensure safety. We strongly encourage parents to get involved. Even if the parent does not know how to sail, we need many hands to help launch boats, keep track of kids and to cook burgers and dogs at the ever popular post sail cookouts (a hit with the kids and parents!).

Recommended ages are 6 to 10 years old, but it really depends on the child involved and how you feel they will take to this sport. This is a great stepping stone into the Crows Nest Program for those that want a better picture of what is involved.

This program is limited to ten kids and will fill up fast, so if you are interested, please complete the Registration and Required Emergency Medical forms and return them to MHYC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
